1. Advice Services

The Prospercare Legal Assist in association with Legal iQ Legal Advice Service is a powerful, dynamic product through which Legal iQ (Pty) Ltd, (hereafter referred to as Legal iQ), provides a comprehensive legal assistance service to the individual and his/her immediate family.

2. Services Provided

24-hour Legal Assistance

The Prospercare Legal Assist / Legal iQ Legal Advice service is a broad-based legal assistance service provided to the public. Qualified lawyers and legal consultants as well as academics provide the service.

The service comprises:

  • A 24-hour telephonic legal advice line;
  • A legal document service; and
  • A direct legal consultation service.

 

Advice

Prospercare Legal Assist members and their immediate family have on-going access to a 24-hour legal advisory service on any aspect of the law such as criminal law, family law, insurance law, child law, motor law, etc. The member and his immediate family is entitled to utilize the advice service as frequently as required provided that the assistance shall be furnished to the member directly and only on legal matters pertaining to the member and in his or her personal capacity.

 

Free standard legal documents

If a member requires a purchase/sale, lease agreement, power of attorney, will, etc, we will provide these free at his or her request. The member will also be advised on the application of each of these documents and the procedures and principles that apply.  

 

60-minute free consultation

This service involves a free initial 60-minute consultation should any matter require legal action. The member will then be referred to a lawyer who forms part of our national network for a direct free 60-minute consultation.  After the 60-minute consultation the member can then decide whether or not to continue with that specific lawyer’s services at a fee structure agreed to between himself and the lawyer. Such fees will be for the member’s account.

The free 60-minute consultation service is available at a lawyer that is situated within the magisterial district where the member resides. This consultation facility is limited to one consultation per matter.

3. Our hassle-free procedure:

  • The member calls the Legal iQ call centre number and provides Legal iQ with full information of the circumstances and services required.
  • The call centre advisor will assess the situation and inform the member of the procedure pertaining to the service; and
  • Advise the member; or
  • Forward a standard legal document to the member if such was needed; or
  • Refer the member to a lawyer for a 60-minute free legal consultation if necessary; or
  • Inform the member that the nature of the matter necessitates more research after which a lawyer would return the member’s call with the requested advice.

4. Our lawyers are available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year

Legal iQ’s resources and assistance are available and accessible 24 hours per day, 365 days a year through a dedicated 086-number.  

5. University of Pretoria

Legal iQ has further established a relationship with academics of the Legal Department of the University of Pretoria and is very proud to be associated with a very strong team of legal experts. This ensures that in the most complicated legal issues our members can now also be assisted by academics that add a lot of value to our service. 

6. Terms and conditions of service

  • The service is provided to contributing Prospercare members and his/her immediate family
  • Immediate family means the principal member’s spouse/partner and their biological and legally adopted dependent and unmarried children up to age 21 and bona fide students up to 25.
  • Service limited to personal matters only

7. Collection and payment of Membership Fees

  • Prospercare Benefit Solutions (Pty) Ltd will supply Legal iQ with a membership list each month
  • Legal iQ does not conduct debit order collections

8. General Information

  • A network of lawyers conducts legal advice services.
  • The Legal iQ network of lawyers is updated on a continuous basis to ensure that our members are always in capable hands. This is in line with our philosophy of providing a dynamic and efficient service.
  • All our lawyers have more than 5 years practical experience and include very senior practitioners.
  • Legal assistance is provided in the most prominent official languages.
  • The lawyers on the Legal iQ network are catagorised according to areas of specialization such as criminal, property, family, etc. This ensures that an expert in respect of his/her particular case always assists a member.
  • Legal services are not provided on a retainer basis. Each case is dealt with on an ad hoc basis and according to merit. This enhances service quality and maintains a high level of service standards.
  • Members do not have to pay for any legal costs (drawing up of legal doc’s as mentioned above) – only the membership fee.
  • Legal iQ provides and has control over the service throughout.
  • Other standard internal quality control measures are applied to ensure quality of services.
  • The free consultation is always at the lawyer’s office.
