Repatriation Benefit

The death of a loved one is very stressful and emotionally draining.  It can be made even more stressful if the death took place in another province or area far from home. Many families/members prefer to be laid to rest at their place of birth or origin, and to do so they must go through a repatriation process.

It’s simply the process of transporting the deceased body to the place of burial.  The Repatriation benefit applies should the transport of the body exceed a 100km.

Repatriation is included in all our options for the basic family.  Foster children are covered for FREE under the basic family option.2ndSpouses and Extended Family members can be covered at an additional amount of R5.00 per person per month.

The transfers in respect of the Repatriation Service Benefit will be restricted to within the borders of South Africa and where specified at inception of the cover, to the major cities of the SADC (Southern African Development Community) countries. In respect of lives covered that are temporarily in the SADC countries when the death occurs, the transfers will only be performed from the major cities of the SADC countries to South Africa.

All claims that require repatriation of mortal remains must be notified to PROSPERCARE at least 72 hours prior to the date on which the repatriation is required.

The claims are notifiable during working hours i.e., from 08h00 to 16h30, Monday to Friday.
